#ARCstravaganza (#34): To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

Happy Monday everyone! And also happy #ARCstravaganza day! I had heard nothing but good things about the book that I selected for this week, before I picked it up, and now that I’ve been reading from it, I can see that the praise is well-deserved! This book is brutal, and just gah! So good. Keep reading to find out more about the book that I picked for #ARCstravaganza this week!

For those of you coming across this meme for this first time, it was originally created by Krysti at YA and Wine, and hosted by her, and Sarah at The Clever Reader. Due to personal circumstances, however, they have had to let it go. We were all very sad to see the meme go, but then Krysti asked me if I wanted to take it over, and I said yes!

For those of you unfamiliar with #ARCstravaganza, it’s a meme meant to encourage book bloggers to show off and discuss their ARCs (advanced reader copies)! If this sounds like something for you, please check out the info page about the meme here. Another change is that #ARCstravaganza participants can share their posts on their blogs, Instagram, or Twitter (or all three)! Please just be sure to tag your social media posts with the hashtag, or share a link to your blog post on my blog post for each week, so that we can find it!

Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most—a human. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen or remain a human forever.

The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby—it’s his calling. When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she’s more than what she appears. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good—But can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind’s greatest enemy?

– About the Author –

Alexandra Christo decided to write books when she was four and her teacher told her she couldn’t be a fairy. She has a BA in Creative Writing and works as a copywriter in London, both of which make her sound more grown up than she feels. When she’s not busy making up stories, she can be found buying far too many cushions and organizing food crawls all over the city. Alexandra currently lives in Hertfordshire with an abundance of cacti (because they’re the only plants she can keep alive).

THANKS SO MUCH FOR READING MY #ARCSTRAVAGANZA POST! WHICH OF YOUR ARCS (DIGITAL OR PHYSICAL) ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT RECEIVING? WHY? LET ME KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW!

  1. This book has had such great reviews! I’m glad you enjoyed it too! I just got approved for a cute middle grade book called The Stupendously Spectacular Spelling Bee by Deborah Abela. Can’t wait to get started on that tonight!

    1. Yeeees it was super good. I keep thinking about it, and keep missing it. I’ll probably re-read this book, which is something that I don’t do very often. And oh my gosh that MG book sounds so CUTE!
