And it’s already time for our second batch of Calendar Girls posts! My, how time flies! For those of you new to Calendar Girls, it’s a new blog event which I am co-hosting with my friend Melanie inspired by Neil Sedaka’s 1961 song Calendar Girl. Just like in the song, we decided to use a specific theme for each month and choose a book based on these themes! The event is meant to incite discussions with other bloggers about books we’ve read and loved, is meant to help bloggers meet other bloggers, and also for bloggers and readers to find out about blogs which they normally may not have come across!

And now…without further ado, here is my choice for February’s theme…
❤ Best Romance in YA ❤
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas! And to those of you following my blog for a while, this should come as no surprise at all. I do ramble about this book quite a bit, mentioning it as often as I can! Haha. It really is my favourite though, and I think it’s the best YA romance (out of the ones that I’ve read, of course) because:
- Feyre is one badass independent woman
- Her love interest loves that about her (I won’t mention names for the sake of those who have not read this series yet!)
- There is not only some incredible attraction between Feyre and her significant other, but also RESPECT!
For the sake of those who may not have read this book, or the previous book, before, I will also not be sharing the synopsis! I will, however, share the synopsis for the first book in the series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, because it too is quite an amazing book, and you should all read it if you haven’t already!
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

I loved ACOMAF! It’s probably my favorite thing I’ve read in the last year.

Ughhhh I don’t know that I can wait until May either :'( I absolutely loved ACOMAF. Although I have to admit I was not a huge fan of the first book. I almost didn’t finish reading it, of course now I am glad I did! I thought it was very slow, I wasn’t drawn in until about the last quarter of the book when things got intense. I prefer more gripping reads that have a good balance of sedentary story/romance as well as action & adventure and I think ACOTAR was lacking in the equality of those two things, but ACOMAF really stepped it up. I love how tough Feyre is – AND THE ROMANCE (I adore and have not yet recovered from the level of respect AND passion that they have for each other) *starry eyes* wowza!
I just started reading book 2 of the Throne of Glass series and I think I like the story better but prefer the characters in ACOMAF…they will forever be my favorite! Eh, I love them both can I just fangirl over all things S.J. Mass? Sorry for all of the caps here, girl this post speaks to me on so many levels because <3 <3 <3
Yaaay another fan! And aweee. I loved the first book, although for different reasons than why I love ACOMAF. Maybe it’s because I don’t mind less action in my books? Who knows? ACOMAF definitely had more action though, and I appreciated that part of it as well, although the romance part of the book held my attention a bit more 😛
And ooohhh I still need to read Throne of Glass! I have the first 3 books on my shelf, and am planning on tackling the entire series this year 😀
Also, we can both definitely fangirl over everything S.J. Maas!!! ❤ ❤ ❤

I’m 0 for 3 for all of the Calendar Girls. I have not read this series yet, but I’m guessing I need to (thank you for the no spoilers since I have yet to read them). Respect is such an important part of getting into a ship for me, and you definitely made me excited to go into this since I have seen quite a few YA romances where respect is not key. Great choice, and I now have definitely quite a few more books to add to the TBR.
Yes, respect is of the utmost importance, and I have also come across YA books where it is lacking. These books are supposed to teach young people that they are to have self respect, but also that they deserve respect from their significant other as well, and when YA books present any scenarios opposite to this, it’s awful 🙁

Every time you gush about this book series it makes me want to read it Flavia! I don’t know that I can keep up with another active series right now though because there are like 9 other active series I am currently trying to keep up with haha.
I do agree with you that badass female characters are awesome and that respect is a very important part of a good romance!

I never did get around to ACOMAF, but the first book was good! I definitely need to get in on the Calendar Girls action. I know exactly what I’ll do for March, but I have to make my final decision for Romance. There are sooo many of them!
